A Celtic Toast
A true Scottish experience would not be complete without savouring
a whisky or two in the lovely little wood panelled Whisky
Bar with its light hearted charm and intimate character. With
a quite sensational selection of over 120 single malts, the
bar has enough to please even the greatest of connoisseurs.
After discussing and tasting a few drams, why not visit a
distillery to see just how this 'water of life' is produced.
The local Bladnoch Distillery has an excellent visitor's centre
from where you start your guided tour. Guided tours are available
throughout the day giving you a chance to see, first hand,
how whisky is made, from the grist to the cask! The very popular
gift shop sells a range of Distillery products and related
Scottish gifts. Purchase a bottle of Bladnoch whisky today...the
ideal gift for any occasion.
On the banks of the river Bladnoch, dating from 1817, the
buildings are of fine stone and slate and reflect the beauty
and history of their setting. Close by are many fascinating
places to visit, from Megalithic remains to the recently launched
Wigtown Book Town of Scotland. Along the riverside walk is
the ancient oak woodland of Cotland Wood, home of the broad
leaved Helleborine, a rare orchid used as the Bladnoch motif.
The first thing that we recommend is a visit to Knockinaam,
of course. Second best is sipping one or two of the whiskies
from the sample house selection to the left.
