Getting married in Scotland

Taking advantage of the recent change in the law allowing civil ceremonies to take place in hotels, we are delighted to be registered for civil marriages. You can now hold your marriage service with us if you choose a civil service. And the ‘preliminaries’ are the same whether you plan to have a religious or a civil marriage ceremony.

Knockinaam cannot confirm dates for marriages without ensuring a Registrar will be available on the specified date. We will issue couples with the appropriate Form AP1, which must be taken to the Registrar who will confirm the arrangement.

The great recent increase in the ‘destination wedding’ idea has naturally brought with it a huge interest in the requirements and procedures for Scottish marriages. Getting married at Knockinaam is not only special – but easy, no matter where in the world you come from.

And of course you can, as has always been the case, arrange for your priest or minister to conduct a religious marriage service at Knockinaam.
