17th & 18th November 2017
I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream - Vincent van Gogh
When was the last time you looked up at the night sky? With your eye alone you can see almost 7000 stars on a dark night and at Knockinaam we are very fortunate to have no light pollution to obstruct our view of the universe above.
We will be hosting a Stargazing Weekend on the 17th & 18th of November with the help of our local dark sky ranger, Elizabeth Tindal. From the lodge she provides a very special treat right on our own front lawn looking out over the Irish Sea learning about our moon, stars and constellations.
On this weekend Elizabeth will provide a tutored star watch on one evening. There will be no moon this weekend so we will be able to spot as many stars as possible and Elizabeth will bring along her special astro-binoculars to help us see even more. Elizabeth will be pointing out both summer and winter constellation which can be seen alongside the broad milky strip of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. The Leonid meteor shower will also be at its peak that weekend so ther will be a special treat of lots of shooting stars to spot too.
The following rates are for two people for two nights inclusive of tutored star gazing on one evening, dinner, full Scottish breakfast, tea or coffee upon arrival, early morning tea and VAT.
