Logan Fish Pond – Port Logan

Port Logan, DG9 9NF. 13miles from Knockinaam.

A naturally formed blow hole from the last Ice Age was adapted by the Laird of Logan as a fish larder for storing live fish in 1800. Now visitors to the pond and shop can feed the stock of local sea fish and are educated with touch pools and a cave aquarium. Open daily 10am to 5pm from 1st of March until the 31st of October.

Kirroughtree 7 Stanes

Kirkcudbright Gallery

Kirkcudbright Galleries is a modern art museum located in the town of Kirkcudbright, about an hour away from Knockinaam. The museum is housed in a rec refurbished building that was formerly the town’s town hall and courthouse.

The galleries showcase a range of art collections, including a permanent collection of works by local artists such as EA Hornel and Jessie M. King, as well as temporary exhibitions featuring contemporary artists from Scotland and beyond. The collection focuses on the art and artists who have lived and worked in Kirkcudbright and the surrounding area, including the Glasgow Boys and the Scottish Colourists.

The museum also features a range of interactive exhibits, including a large touchscreen display that allows visitors to explore the museum’s collection in detail, as well as a workshop space for art and craft activities. The building itself is an impressive example of Victorian architecture, with a striking clock tower and ornate stone carvings.

Fantastic all round visitor centre with an ice cream parlour, a tearoom and shop. Holds ice cream making and cheese making workshops, farm tours, please check with website for when they are held, and book in advance. Bladnoch Distillery – Whiskey

Crafty Distillery – Gin

Ninefold Distillery – Dalton

Ninefold Distillery is the first and only rum distillery in the South of Scotland, making rum from scratch in our Scottish-made copper pot still. The distillery currently produces an unaged pure single rum (aka white rum). Owned by the Carruthers family, and run by youngest son Kit, the distillery marks the latest chapter in the 450-year history of Dormont Estate in the rolling hills of southwest Scotland.
