August at Knockinaam

Despite the occasional light rainfall, the temperatures in August maintain a comfortable average around 17 degrees Celsius during the day. The showers often serve to refresh the surrounding gardens, making the vivid greenery shimmer under the Scottish sun. Even in the drizzles, our guests can continue to enjoy the views from the cove across the Irish Sea.

The long daylight hours intertwined with the cool sea breeze make every moment here, rain or shine, an opportunity for enjoyment and relaxation. Guests can partake in a myriad of local activities, whether it’s a brisk walk along the coastal path, enjoying a spot of afternoon tea, or simply relaxing in the comfort of the hotel and grounds.

As the Summer holidays continue, we are delighted to extend our special offer where children go free across the month of August in our Hannay with Croft family suite – full details below.

It’s an equally exciting time in the kitchen as the team experiment with the very best ingredients from our kitchen garden, combining home-grown ingredients with seasonal local produce and Scottish seafood. There’s also a number of kids options.

What’s growing?

Even in the midst of light rain showers, the vibrancy of our kitchen garden is an absolute delight. Our garden continues to yield a variety of fruits and vegetables, similar to the abundance of July. This month, the tomatoes are particularly noteworthy, ripe and perfect for harvesting. Our chef expertly incorporates the seasonal produce harvested from our on-site garden, creating dishes each month that are a testament to the freshness and quality of our home-grown ingredients.

Flavours of the month

Every Saturday lunchtime we run our popular Big Green Egg BBQ rolling menu and this continues through August. Options include a classic paella featuring local Drummore Lobster & seasonal salads, Cote du Boeuf (28 day aged Galloway Rump of Beef on the bone) served with Garden salads & Hot Garden Potatoes and many more options which you can view on our August menu here. Vegetarian options are also available.

Guests staying with us during the month of August can look forward to a wonderful array of seasonal delights on our taster menu such as a simple yet delicious heritage tomato salad, paired with Arran goats cheese, utilising the fresh tomatoes grown right here in kitchen garden at Knockinaam.
